The Good
It was a brilliant surprise with the coffees. Our coffees arrived with unexpectedly adorable latte art on both the Latte and Flat White. The seahorse was elegant and intricate, while the dinosaur was simply so cute. The coffees themselves were good, bold flavour, and very silky milk with plenty of froth.
The Porgies Famous Golden Folded certainly didn’t disappoint either. Topped with the brilliant red chilli jam and a generous helping of goats cheese, paired with the vibrant colours of the scrambled eggs, the vibrant colours were simply stunning. The silky smooth, pillowy and fluffy scrambled eggs were heavenly, and benefitted from the creamy goodness of the goats cheese. Combined with the bold umami of grilled chorizo and plenry of spjxe thanks to the chilli jam, this was one flavourful dish that just kept on giving.
Salmon and Soba Noodles was the perfect summer dish. Served cold, the abundance of crisp fresh leafy veggies were paired with al dente soba noodles. The sour and zesty dressing adding a light and refreshing touch, while the chunky piece of crispy skin, sous vide salmon was juicy and perfectly seared.
We rounded out our meal with the Black Forest French Toast. The vanilla soaked sourdough was beautifully spongy and exhibited a light golden outer. The raspberry compote combined with the chocolate mousse made for an absolute decadence. The balance of sweet, rich and tart, coupled with a plethora of exceedingly fresh berries, made for the perfect accompaniment to the sweet and fragrant french toast.
The Mediocre
Nothing.
The Bad
Nothing.
The Verdict
A long awaited visit marred by multiple lockdown orders, boy are we glad to have finally made it to Porgie Mr Jones.
The quality dishes on offer, coupled with a creative and well executed menu, made every mouthful as enjoyable as the next. Oh, and the latte art is pretty amazing too!
