- Octopus Bibimbap
- Beef Stew with Udon
We were off to a brilliant start to our Korean lunch with the Fried Kimchi Mandu. The crispy, golden brown skin was delicate yet provided a satisfying crunch. Within, the kimchi was mixed with various other veggies and chopped noodles to offer up a sweet, spicy and juicy sensation. A perfect parcel that delivered a full, bold flavour.
Next, we dug into the highly recommended Beef Stew. Opting for a level 1 spice along with some udon noodles, the hearty stew was served piping hot in a cast iron bowl. The chunks of beef within were sizeable and plentiful, and chomping down on the super tender and succulent protein was pure pleasure. Effortless falling off the bone and melting away in your mouth, filling your taste buds with bold, beefy flavours coupled with a kick of spicy goodness, this was one incredible stew that immediately became our favourite. With the udon noodles soaking up the meat juices and the marinade, there really was no better way to devour this dish.
The Octopus Bibimbap certainly did not disappoint either. The spicy baby octopus were fresh and tender, with a fun, bouncy feedback. Lightly grilled to offer a full aroma and bold flavour, the octopus were nicely accompanied by the usual Bibimbap toppings like shredded carrots, bean sprouts, egg and pickles. All served in a piping hot stone pot with plenty of rice, this was one warm and hearty dish that offered up amazing comfort.
We also enjoyed the Seafood Pancake. The sizeable pancake was fried to a perfect crisp, with crunchy caramelised edges that offered up a satisfying crunch. Within, the mix of seafood and shredded veggies were plentiful, all without the mushy, powdery filling that’s normally associated with these kind of pancakes. The soy sauce added a pleasant sweetness throughout.
Newly opened in The Glen shopping centre, this is Masizzim’s first foray into the Australian market. The international Korean restaurant chain is famous for a reason, and it’s no doubt that we thoroughly enjoyed digging into the well executed dishes made with quality produce, all at an affordable price point.
