The Good
We were off to a brilliant start with the Breakfast Croissant Burger. Topped with two gorgeous sunny fried eggs that were just waiting to be poked, we just couldn’t wait to dig in. The croissant was fresh and flakey, it’s crisp outer made way for a fluffy and comforting inner. Within the open burger sandwiched slices of avocado, crispy bacon and of course we had to add an extra hash brown in there – as if this wasn’t breakfast-themed enough! All held together by a creamy hollandaise sauce, this burger tasted every bit as good as it looked.
We also enjoyed the Roasted Mushrooms. Sat on top two slices of sourdough, the juicy and meaty portobello mushrooms were aromatic and full of flavour. This was nicely accompanied by sauteed spinach which offered up an earthy sensation, with the sage butter sauce further enhancing the flavours. Our breakfast concluded on a sweet note with the special of the day, the Waffles. Freshly pressed in house, the waffles’ golden outer offered up a pleasant crunch that made way for a spongy and soft inner. They proved to be absolutely irresistible when soaking up the sweet berry compote as well as a caramel sauce. The cookie crumbs offered an additional crunch component, and a generous helping of vanilla ice cream tying together.

The Verdict
A bustling local cafe located in the bayside Dromana, the menu at Laneway Espresso isn’t exactly adventurous Despite this, they do dish up a top notch, quality breakfast that’s well executed, well priced and generous in portion sizes.
For a tasty and reliable feed that’s bound to satiate your hunger, Laneway Espresso should be on your to-do when heading down the Mornington Peninsula!
