Our Lamb Frittata was simply sensational. Cutting into the beautifully plated up dish reveals an inner filled with tender and well-spiced chunks of pulled lamb. The beautiful lamb flavour was well accompanied by the fluffy egg, which was topped with cute dollops of tzatziki providing rich creaminess throughout. Combined with sudden bursts of sweetness from the pomegranate seeds and crisp fresh peas, the flavour profile was just incredible and every mouthful was a thrill for the tastebuds. Sitting at the bottom and holding it all together was the warm and fluffy house made pita, perfect for soaking up all the juices from the dish!
We also enjoyed the Cauliflower Steak Burger. The stunning cauliflower steak was thick and beautifully charred, sandwiched between a delicious, creamy eggplant purée and a generous helping of sweet caramelised onion. With fresh leaves of lettuce offering an incredible crunch and juxtaposing the soft and fluffy soy milk bun, this was one veggie burger that delivered on all the flavours and textures.
We rounded off our meal with the French Toast Crumpets. Lightly coated in an eggy batter and shallow fried, the crumpets had an incredible springy feedback and was well accompanied by the sweet berry compote. With bits of crunchy toasted muesli scattered throughout to provide textural diversity, we found this breakfast dessert dish well balanced in sweetness, though a tad more crunchy muesli certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Taking over from the old space of Funkie Brewster, we are glad to report that Ivy and Pearl thankfully offers a much improved brunch option for the locals of Rosanna.
Gone were the days of lazy cooking and mediocre food. The menu is now interesting and excitable, with subtle hints of Mediterranean flavours thrown in here and there. Their rotating weekend specials are simply spot on, and with delicious, hearty and generous portions on offer daily, Ivy and Pearl is destined to become a locals’ favourite.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
