It was a brilliant beginning to our 9 course tasting experience with the Premium Sashimi. The selection of nigiri were exceptionally fresh, and wonderfully tasty. The highlight for us was of course the salmon belly, which was so tender and delicate, with a beautiful flavour, a good amount of fatty goodness that came without so much as a hint of fishiness. The shellfish was also exceptionally soft and offered up a slight crunch, and was perhaps one of the best shellfish sashimi we’ve come across.
The King Salmon Canape didn’t disappoint either. These beautiful canapes were loaded with incredibly fresh and tender diced king salmon, which was juxtaposed by the crispy crunch of the fried salmon skin. Dotted throughout were big balls of fish roe that quite literally popped in your mouth and created an amazing burst of juciness. All served on a delicate nori waffle, this was an incredibly exciting and well balanced canape.
Another delicious course worth mentioning was the 77degrees Octopus. Slow cooked to perfect tenderness, the chunks of octopus tentacles were incredibly soft and succulent, with a fragrant and lightly charred flavour. While the Smokey Dragonball didn’t disappoint either, with a lovely smokey flavour that was made more excitable thanks to the incredible crunchy outer and soft, flavoursome inner filled with minced king prawns.
Our main was of course, the Truffle Miso Lobster. Stunningly presented, we found the sizable lobster tail well complemented by a creamy and very aromatic truffle miso sauce, offering up a slight richness that was accompanied by plenty of juicy enocki mushrooms. The highlight was undoubtedly the lobster tail itself, which was cooked to perfection. The lobster meat offered up a slight crunch, with a slight bouncy feedback that made way for a flavoursome and juicy experience.
We concluded our meal with the Matcha Fountain. Topped with a cherry-like object, the intricate garnish was actually a mochi filled with azuki red bean. The soft, gooey inner with a sweet and earthy sensation provided the perfect contrast to the scoop of creamy and flavourful matcha ice cream sitting underneath. A rather light yet satisfying dessert to finish off the night.
Contemporary Japanese cuisine is often difficult to pull off due to the intricate complexities of Japanese cooking itself. However, Miss Kasumi has definitely proven that they are far from the norm and has definitely mastered the art of combining modern techniques with authentic Japanese flavours.
From the incredibly fresh sashimi that’s delivered daily and sliced right at the last possible second, to the well-balanced and carefully thought out fusions of different flavours and textures, it’s apparent that Miss Kasumi is an eatery that simply offers no compromises in taste or quality.

You can count on it! This was definitely one of the most memorable food experiences we’ve had for a long while, and we definitely can’t wait to return for more new and exciting creations that Miss Kasumi has waiting for us.
