Arbory Bar and Eatery
- Double Cheeseburger & Crinkle Cut Chips
The Double Cheeseburger was pleasant, though not outstanding in any way. Barely held together by the soft brioche, we found two rather thin beef patties cooked all the way through. The meat was a tad tougher than expected, though still had good flavour. This was complemented by a thin piece of bacon, which wasn’t fried nearly crisp enough and still had plenty of fat that needed more rendering down. The tomato relish and mayo was liberally applied, making for a rather wet and sloppy burger, and honestly, we could’ve done with better quality, and much much more cheese.
The Crinkle Cut Chips felt very much like an afterthought. Despite being relatively well-fried, these potatoes were lacklustre at best. Seasoning was severely lacking apart from a few sprinkles of salt, and honestly they tasted no different from frozen, supermarket chips.
Situated right next to Flinders Street Station, The Arbory dishes out some above-average pub grub that’s probably made better by the lofty, open view of the Yarra River.
The food in and of itself was serviceable though unspectacular, and for those who come for the food alone, it may not quite satisfying your cravings.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
It’s a very hesitant maybe. There’s just so many better burger joints out there that dish up better quality burgers at a much more agreeable price.
