It was off to an amazing start with the Mac and Cheese Nuggets, and it quickly became apparent why these gems came so highly recommended The golden brown outer shell was fried to a perfect crisp, which enclosed an incredibly soft and gooey inner filled with mac and cheese. The cheese flavour was bold and forward, its slight pungent sensation boding well with the soft macaroni within. This was served with a slight spicy tomato and pickle mayo, offering up a slight zesty sensation, albeit we enjoyed the nuggets even more in solitary.
Following on from the nuggets, we dug into the Harlem Burger, which is a burger with its buns replaced by two huge slices of buttermilk waffles. The waffles were freshly made and as a result, exhibited a slight crispy outer that made way for a soft and spongey dough. The sugar dusting added a pleasant sweetness throughout, which was perfectly contrasted by a delicious schnitzel of fried chicken sandwiched within. Despite not being overly thick, the outer batter offered up a satisfying crunch that gave way to some tender and well-seasoned protein. This was well accompanied by slices of bacon that we added, providing the perfect savoury sensation that contrasted the sweetness of the maple mayonnaise and white bbq sauce. Holding everything together was of course the slices of melted American cheddar cheese, which we could only ask for more.
The Fatty 5-0 Burger was a massive sight to behold, and certainly didn’t disappoint. The double beef and triple bacon ensured that the tall stack certainly delivered in meaty goodness, though the beef patties could’ve done with a tad more seasoning to bring out the flavours more. Despite this, the triple portion of bacon strips were aptly rendered down and fried to a perfect crisp, which was well complemented by the melted cheese and soft chunks of mac and cheese spilling out of the burger. All held together by a smokey BBQ sauce and a slightly spicy mayo, this burger certainly wasn’t shy in delivering the flavours.
We rounded off our feast with some Taco Fries. While the fries themselves were cooked well and offered great crunch, they were undeniably ordinary in solitary. Despite this though, these loaded fries were made spectacular by the generous topping and an abundance of sauces that offered up a decidedly Mexican twist. The salsa and guacamole provided plenty of fresh flavour and creamy goodness, which was balanced out by the intense flavour of jalapeno slices scattered throughout. The chilli sensation was thankfully made milder by the rich sour cream as well as the delectably light and fragrant queso fresco. With some paprika sprinkled on top, these loaded fries most definitely brings to mind a taste of tacos and were the perfect accompaniment to the burgers.
