- Black Sesame Latte
- French Brioche
Sweets and treats were provided by High Tea Cakery which were absolutely delightful. In particular the Spongecake with pink icing was baked to a pillowy softness. I also rather enjoyed the Chocolate Brownies, which were immensely rich in chocolate flavour.
I was finally able to sample the Black Latte that I’ve been eyeing longingly on the many Instagram posts. It is derived from the flavour of black sesame, was mildly sweet and smooth to down. It reminded me of the black sesame paste inside the glutinous rice ball dessert that can be purchased at Asian grocers. (I ordered two!) The latte art is immaculate as usual, and the thick froth seemed to retain its image for a long period of time. I had set aside my second drink awaiting for the main to come out for a photo, and the art showed no signs of dissipating.
The staff at White Mojo were very attentive, and knowledgeable of the dishes when enquired. They made sure to take further orders for drinks when we had finished what we had.
Having assumed that the French Brioche was merely French Toast made with Brioche, I was initially surprised to see an absence of egg on the dish. Despite of this, the combination of coffee parfait, blueberry marmalade, honeycomb, chocolate ganache, pistachio crumb and salted caramel complemented each other rather well and made for a tasty dish nonetheless. However, the dish overall failed to deliver a special twist, much like many other dishes at White Mojo. Given the serving size, a side of donuts or croissants were much warranted.
All in all it was a lovely Christmas party and I had a great time. The great staff, coupled with the fantastic drinks made for an enjoyable dining experience.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Sure. Definitely sign me up for more of those Black Sesame and Matcha Lattes, which, in my opinion, remain the headline items for White Mojo.
I would like to thank White Mojo for hosting the Christmas Party, and Madelaine from Taking A Bite, for her hard work in organising the event.
Penguineats thanks ShortxStout for attending this event on our behalf.
