Grill’d (Melbourne Central)
- Mighty Melbourne
- Caesar'S Palace
While the patty was thick, the beef within the Mighty Melbourne was undeniably dry and slightly tough. This theme permeated throughout, with the sauce and the fresh greens providing a bit of relief. Along with the thin slice of cheese that was lacking in both flavour and substance, this made for s highly ordinary beef burger that one can easily dish up at home. The stale, untoasted bun didn't help the cause either.
The Caesar's Palace was nothing but a sloppy mess. From the bun that looks like it's taken a beating, to the paper thin piece of chicken. The mayo was mostly concentrated on one side of the burger. In the little bits where the ingredients were properly spread out, it made for a pretty nice and enjoyable few bites. However this was the exception here, and I definitely left hungry and unsatisfied.
I've never been a big fan of the burgers at Grilld, and this was no exception. The sloppiness, combined with the skimping of ingredients, is simply inexcusable given the price tag.
Would Penguin Eat Again?
Suffice to say, I will not be back - for charity or not. I have never understood the hype for Grilld, as every visit has been mediocre at best. This time, it was no different.
Honestly, there's simply too many better burger joints in Melbourne, dishing up a whole lot more awesome, at a much more reasonable price, to warrant another visit.
